Despite Runcorn Linnets' scheduled match being called off on Saturday due to what the referee deemed to be an unsafe playing surface, the count for the naming of the new ground went ahead as planned.
The original suggestions had been narrowed down to the five most popular at the club's AGM in December, but the final vote was opened up to Trust Members of all ages, including the children who weren't eligible to vote at the AGM.
The winner by a long way was "The Linnets Stadium".

The Linnets Stadium - 47 votes
Stockham Lane - 21 votes
The Lady Of Mercia Stadium - 18 votes
Linnet Park - 11 votes
Runcorn Community Stadium - 3 votes
With regards to other recent progress in the Ground Project, the lease has now been agreed and signed, and so the only outstanding issues are with regard to securing delivery dates from suppliers in order that a continuous plan of works can be drawn up and started by the main contractor. Work on the clubhouse building was scheduled to commence today (Monday 1st February) and construction of the new ground should start sometime this week.
