With the entire league programme being wiped out for the third successive Saturday on the 2nd January, an unwanted league record was set.
Andrew Moffat, the Results Co-Ordinator for the League Management Committee, has confirmed that this is the first time we have lost an entire programme of games on three successive Saturdays since the league began in 1982. In fact, in recent years it has been relatively unusual to lose an entire set of fixtures on just one Saturday during the season, so three in a row is definitely out of the ordinary.
The last time we were able to sample any action anywhere around the league was on Wednesday 16th December, when Atherton LR beat Daisy Hill 5-2 in the League Challenge Cup, and Glossop North End drew 2-2 with Winsford United.
The weather forecast for the next few days at least doesn't look too clever, so fingers crossed that the record isn't extended any further.
