Saturday Morning Derby Clash In Rochdale

There's a derby clash with a difference in Rochdale this coming Saturday morning, when Rochdale Town entertain a Rochdale FC XI at the Castleton Sports Centre.

The game has an 11 am kick off, and Town Chairman Mark Canning hopes that many football followers in the town will take the opportunity to enjoy two games in one day.

"Rochdale have agreed to send down a side comprising reserve and first team squad members, and after the game, they will be heading straight across to Spotland, where the club are hosting a challenge match against Bradford City which kicks off at 3 pm.

"We understand that some of the players involved in our game might also play some part in the afternoon game, or will be required to assist with other match day duties involving the first team squad.

"It's going to be a great test for our lads, and with both myself and our manager Dean Stokes having had spells at Spotland, we are all really looking forward to the game.  We are hoping that the idea of watching two Rochdale FC games in one day will appeal to many Dale fans, especially as our game has the novelty of being a Rochdale derby.  Hopefully, if local football followers come down and see for themselves the facilities we have, it might encourage them to come back again.

"We are asking for adults to make a donation of £3 on the day, with children allowed free entry, and it would be great to see a good crowd down to see the two local teams in action".
