Statement From Silsden

Silsden Chairman Sean McNulty has issued the following statement for publication on the League website.

I have the greatest pleasure in announcing a successful completion of our application to the Football Stadia fund.

We have been awarded £53,700 as their contribution towards the cost for our ground upgrade.

We have also won an award from the Asda Foundation for £25,000 towards our share of the costs for which we are extremely grateful. They have plans for our club and Stadia, of which news will follow.

With the above finalised I have given instruction to the contractor, AML Electrical of Steeton, to order all the equipment needed to upgrade our ground at Keighley Road. Work starts on July 12th and should be completed around week commencing August 9th in time for the new 2010/2011 season.

Once completed, the whole club will benefit, from the seniors playing, to junior game curtain raisers and junior ball boys, and girls.

We still need to raise funds for our share and would ask you all to support all fund raising activities, we are not a huge amount short and really do not wish to take people up on their generous offers of loans.

Our aim is to start the season debt free, and is very achievable.

Who could have guessed that during the last 9 months we lost our major sponsor, were given notice by the Cougars and did not have a ground to play our home games, and yet now are on the verge of playing at Keighley Road for the new season.

Many thanks to all who have made the fulfillment of our dream come true, especially Dave Tomlinson and Geoff Wilkinson whose constant help, encouragement and guidance brought us one step nearer after every contact.  Thanks guys.

"Football Really is Coming Home."

Sean McNulty, Chairman, Silsden AFC
