World Cup Fever At Glossop

Anyone who fancies watching England in the World Cup in an atmospheric environment should head to Glossop North End's Surrey Street ground this Friday.

The club decided to open the clubhouse for the USA game, and adverts were put in all the local papers and on local radio.

Nearly 70 people turned up, meaning that the bar ran out of some refreshments...but more have been ordered for Friday.  The atmosphere was electric from before kick-off, and to add to the excitement, a competition to win a season ticket to watch Glossop next season also drew in the crowd.  The lucky winner was Paul Eccles, who drew the 4th minute out of the hat, which was when Steve Gerrard scored England's opener.

The event was so successful Glossop has decided to run the whole thing again this Friday, with the same competition.  Not a bad offer - come to Surrey Street to watch your country play in South Africa, and get the chance to walk away with a treasured season ticket.
