Bob's Making Good Progress

League Vice-President Bob Eccles reports he is progressing well after completing his initial course of treatment for cancer.

Bob had been attending the Royal Preston Hospital on a daily basis for several weeks, and now the treatment has finished, he says he is now slowly getting his energy levels back.

"The specialists are happy with my progress, and everything is going as well as can be expected at this stage", he said.  "I go back for further assessments in September, and until then it's a case of trying to get back to normal".

For Bob, normal means plenty of walking and spending time in his greenhouse, and with the assistance of his wife Rosemary, he is now managing to do both.

"I've been in the greenhouse a bit, but Rosemary has been doing all the hard work while I've been supervising.  We've been doing a bit of walking too, and last week we walked for about half a mile before I had to stop for a rest and turn round to come back home.

"I've been saying all along that I want to get back to walking up the hill to Darwen Tower again, and hopefully in a few weeks I'll feel up for that too.

"In the meantime, I'm looking forward to getting along the League AGM in Blackpool on the 19th June, and seeing everyone there".
